Beside the Sea

This weekend I have finished one of the three modern seaside prints!
I really like the contemporary cross stitch designs of Kate McDonnell.

If you are interested in these typographic designs you can find them in the
Cross Sticher Magazine / August 2012.

I stiched on white Aida fabric (14 count) and
I used a slightly lighter thread so it matches perfect to my curtains in my Belgian holiday home.
Last week I bought 3 white frames.....so I have to stich the rest of this trio.
My to-do-list is getting longer and longer!!!

Enjoy!

Lazing on a sunny afernoon! / Part 1

This is a photo of my first big cross stitch project.

It is a row of beach huts designed by Lisa Reakes.
It is nearly finished! I hope to finish the white beach hut and the details this week.

I am a little bit shocked how long I need to finish this project.
The magazine says approx. 50 hours....... maybe 50 years???

o.k. to be honest I started the project with nearly about no experience of cross stitching.....
Later in the chart I found fractional stitches and French knots...
I had no idea about these stitches.....

You see I am a totally beginner!!!

I really like this colourful design!!!

Can't wait to start my next nautical cross stitch project.

Greetings from the Belgium seaside

Welcome / Miniature Cross Stitch kits

Welcome to my new blog:

sandseaandcrossstitch.blogspot.com

My name is Sonja and I am a new cross stitcher. I started in January 2015 with cross stitching.

I am planning to do a miniature haberdashery shop (in an old wooden sewing lid).

On the internet I found a lot of wonderful charts and kits and I was folling in love with cross stitching.

On the photo you can see 2 of my miniature cross stitch kits and a measure tape.

Each kit is approx. 2,5 x 1,5 cm and contains:
Aida fabric, a tiny needle (a piece of wire) and thread.

If you are interested in my miniatures please visit my miniature blog:

Have a nice day
